Each of the 35 hidden Breadcrumbs began their journey with The Wave, but have since scattered everywhere! Find one. Scan it. Track its journey and see where the larger sculpture is today.
The Wave Project
This project is about connection and discovery.
The Wave - a kinetic sculpture - moves from one small independent business to another throughout California. Each Host displays the sculpture for about a month (If you have a small business, you can apply to host the sculpture for a month below).
Hidden in unexpected places are 35 numbered breadcrumbs - miniature reflections of the The Wave. Find one, scan it, and discover where The Wave is being Hosted. You can celebrate the Host business by visiting in person, or on line.
If you find a Breadcrumb, you become part of its story, and the kinetic movement as a whole. Each breadcrumb has a QR code that records its travels - every person who’s found it, every place that it’s been. Add your location to its path, then release it back into the world for the next person to discover.
Watch the map as all 35 breadcrumbs trace their routes across towns, states, and countries, while The Wave sculpture continues it’s slower journey. This is art, that moves through the world carried by curiosity.
